Bangladesh earns 27.56 bln USD from exports in July-February period
DHAKA, March 7 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's exports in the first eight months of the current fiscal year (July 2018-June 2019) grew by about 13 percent to 27.56 billion U.S. dollars.
According to official statistics of the Bangladesh's Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) released here on Thursday, the country fetched 27,562.79 billion U.S. dollars from exports in July-February period of the 2018-19 fiscal year.
According to EPB data, export earnings stood at 3.38 billion U.S. dollars in February, registering 10.12 percent growth over the corresponding month of the previous year.
Of total exports earning in the first eight months, the country fetched 23.13 billion U.S. dollars from exports of ready-made garments including knitwear and woven.
Both the knitwear and woven garments grew 13.50 percent and 14.84 percent to 11.49 billion U.S. dollars and 11.63 billion U.S. dollars respectively in the first eight months of the current fiscal year.
Bangladesh set its export target in 2018-19 fiscal year at 39 billion U.S. dollars including 32.69 billion U.S. dollars from readymade garment products.
