NEW DELHI, March 8 (APD) - In an advisory recently issued to the national carrier Air India its crew has been asked to say 'Jai Hind', meaning long live India at the end of every flight announcement.
The advisory has been issued byAmitabh Singh, the director of operations of Air India and asks the crew to make the announcement "with much fervor."
"With immediate effect, all crew are required to announce 'Jai Hind' at the end of every announcement after a slight pause and much fervour," the advisory clarified.
A report published in the Hindustan Times clarified that the current advisory is a "reminder" to the staff, to follow the "mood of the nation".
Previously in 2016 the carrier’s Managing Director, AshwaniLohani, issued a similar advisory to the pilots of Air India.
It said, "The captain of a flight should often connect with passengers during the journey and, at the end of first address, using the words 'Jai Hind' would make a tremendous impact.”
Then Lohani had further said, "The cabin crew should greet the passengers while emplaning and deplaning with a 'namaskaar' an Indian greeting as was the tradition. A smile on the face and conversing sweetly and politely without an iota of irritation would be a good thing."
