Officer wounded, terrorists reported killed in Egypt's Giza shootout: state media
CAIRO, March 7 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian state media reported that one officer was wounded and some terrorists were killed in an exchanged fire between security forces and terrorists at the ring road of Giza province on Thursday.
State-run Ahram newspaper confirmed the news on its website without mentioning the exact number of casualties.
Egypt has been battling wave of anti-security terrorist attacks since the army ouster of former President Mohamed Morsi in 2013 in response to mass protest against his one-year rule.
Most of the attacks were centered in North Sinai where a branch of Islamic State was located.
However, some of the attacks crept into the capital and other cities.
Hundreds of security men and civilians were killed in the attacks, most of which were claimed by Islamic State.
