Canadian stock market edges up slightly

TORONTO, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Canadian main stock market closed up slightly on Wednesday.

The Toronto Stock Exchange's SP/TSX Composite Index rose 5.53 points, or 0.03 percent, to close The day at 16,092.07 points.

The Canadian dollar fell to 0.7438 U.S. dollar.

On The market, a total of 100 issues rose while 135 fell. There were 19 new highs and three new lows, with total volume of 272.2 million shares.

The energy group fell 2.04 points, or 1.3 percent while The financial sector climbed 0.28 points, or 0.1 percent.

The most heavily traded shares by volume included Aurora Cannabis Inc and Encana Corp.

Aurora Cannabis Inc. fell 21 cents, or 1.94 percent, to close at 10.59 Canadian dollars on 30.2 million shares.

Encana Corp. dropped 40 cents, or 4.10 percent, to end at 9.36 Canadian dollars on 9.89 million shares.
