Tanzanian PM orders quality control bodies to sort out differences for trade, investments
DAR ES SALAAM, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Tanzanian Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa on Wednesday ordered two state-owned quality control and regulatory bodies to resolve their differences in order to facilitate Trade and investments in the east African nation.
Majaliwa ordered six ministers responsible in health, Trade and investments to meet by the end of this month and sort out conflicting areas of duties of institutions under their dockets that regulate and control quality and standards of products.
"The aim is to avoid setbacks in facilitating Trade and investment due to existence of many unnecessary procedures that Traders and investors have been subjected to," he told a news conference in the business capital Dar es Salaam.
The six ministers given the ultimatum were responsible for health, industry and Trade, investment, livestock and fisheries and agriculture.
Majaliwa made the directive after he had visited the Tanzania Food and Drugs Authority and the Tanzania Bureau of Standards headquarters in Dar es Salaam.
He said his directive came after hearing complaints from Traders who lamented that they have been subjected to a number of conditions and fees from the two regulatory and quality control institutions. Enditem
