Day of gains on Spanish Ibex-35 stock exchange

MADRID, March 6 (Xinhua) -- The Spanish Ibex-35 stock exchange on WednesDAY enjoyed a DAY of gains after two DAYs of slight losses and although it was unable to close the DAY above the 9,300.00 point mark, it reached its highest closing level for five months.

The Ibex-35 opened on 9,258.20 points and closed on 9,296.70 points: a rise of 0.42 percent on the DAY's trading.

Hopes that the European Central Bank will inject liquidity on ThursDAY meant that Spain's banks were the best performers of the DAY, with three banks (Banco Santander, Banco Sabadell and the BBVA) among the DAY's top-four performers.

The Banco Santander enjoyed a rise of 1.66 percent in share values, while the shares of the Banco Sabadell rose by 1.39 percent and those of the BBVA by 1.22 percent.

Meanwhile energy company, Red Electrica Corporacion recovered from its losses on TuesDAY with shares increasing 1.41 percent in value.

Pharmaceutical company Grifols was the worst performer on the DAY with shares losing 2.11 percent of their worth, while there was a second DAY of losses for renewable energy producer, ENCE Energia y Celulosa, which saw TuesDAY's loss of 2.99 percent in share prices, followed by another hit of 1.19 percent.

Finally, the shares in Viscofan, which produces cellulose and collagen, fell by 1.08 percent. Enditem
