NEW DELHI, Mar.6 (APD) -- Renowned comedian and television show host Trevor Noah recently apologized for making a joke on India-Pakistan war after facing backlash.

On a show that Noah was hosting he joked that a war between the two Asian countries would be "entertaining" and used references from the Indian film industry, Bollywood.

He said, "It would also be the longest war of all time—another dance number?"

On social media the joke drew flak as Noah was slammed for being insensitive and culturally unaware.

An Indian actor, Swara Bhaskar criticized the joke on social media. Through Twitter she said, “War isn't funny or entertaining. Your stereotype of Indo- Pak is ignorant and racist.... Human lives were lost ans at stake. So disappointing!”

Noah later responded on his Twitter account to the anger he received on social media saying that for him comedy was a way to "process pain," and apologized for the joke saying, "I am sorry that I hurt you and others, that's not what I was trying to do."
