CVL Women’s Finals: Beijing beat Tianjin in second game
In the women's final of the Chinese Volleyball League (CVL), Beijing trounced Tianjin 27-29, 26-24, 25-16, 29-27 to register victory in the second game of the best of five series on Tuesday.
The victory helped them take a 2-0 lead in the finals as Beijing inched closer to the title. Earlier, the team from the capital won the first meeting against the defending champions in a hard-fought five-setter and were looking forward to prevailing over their opponents in their own backyard.
In the first set, Beijing was more aggressive and Jin Ye's spike put them up 9-2. Tianjin's Wang Yuanyuan was then blocked but the ball went out of bounds and the reigning champions were within four behind the visitors. Li Yingying then trimmed their deficit to two points and a good serve from Yangyi gave Tianjin the opening set 29-27.

The visitors held four set points in the second, but Ren Kaiyi's kill fended one off. Beijing then went on to win six points in a row to claim the set 26-24 as national team coach Lang Ping watched the game closely.
Ren's spike subsequently secured the third set 25-16 for Beijing.
In the fourth, Beijing held two set points but Tianjin leveled the score at 24.
However, Ren's blast helped Beijing retake the lead and a final block saw the visiting team win the set 29-27 for a 3-1 victory. They are now just one match away from their first league title with an emphatic 2-0 series lead.
