Chongqing, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Jordi Cruijff, coach of Chongqing STM Motors football club, was impressed with his players' efforts in the Chinese Super League opening round last Saturday, in which his side tied the score 2-2 with Guangzhou RF in the last minute.

"I am so proud that my players fought till the end of the game, and very glad to see them showing the spirit of striving, "said Cruijff on Wednesday in an interview with Xinhua.

At last week's game in Chongqing, the home team had opened the score at 1-0, then Guangzhou caught up with the points and instead surpassed the home side. But with the last-minute goal, Chongqing finally drew the game for 2-2.

"Guangzhou really piled the pressure on in the second half, but we drew the game in the end. However, lots of improvements still need to be done for us," added Cruijff.

When talked about Chongqing's last performance of defense. Cruijff said, "Their players are impressive, normally they had five to six people to go on attack, which gave our defenders a huge burden. Some of my crews played injured through last season, I really appreciate their striving spirits, and also believe we can stay in the league."

As mentioned to the impression of Chongqing city, Cruijiff said: "Chongqing is famous as a foggy city where sunshine rarely appears in spring and winter time, besides I am still getting used to the spicy food here. But it is also a city with wonderful soccer fans culture, I am so happy to see thousands of fans come to the field and cheer for us."

In the next round, Chongqing STM Motor is to meet Beijing Guoan. "We will use pointed tactics and make reasonable arrangements for the next game, for Beijing is a strong team after they recruited a few talented players this Season," added he.
