China Mobile to improve internet speed, cut fees
BEIJING, March 6 (Xinhua) -- China Mobile, the country's leading telecom services provider, on Wednesday pledged to increase average broadband connection speed in urban areas and lower service costs this year as promised.
The telecom giant will upgrade its broadband network to 1,000 Mbps in 70 percent of the urban areas of the country and precisely expand its 4G network to enhance its indoor coverage and improve the user experience, said a source of the company.
For small and medium-sized enterprises, the average broadband service cost will be further cut by an extra 15 percent this year, while the average mobile internet service charge will see a decrease of at least 20 percent, said the source.
The other two major Chinese mobile operators, China Telecom and China Unicom, also vowed to speed up their broadband networks and lower average internet service fees.
