Former White House spokesman to cooperate with Congress probe
Former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said Tuesday he would cooperate with Congress' investigation into the Trump administration.
"I will do everything to facilitate this investigation and there's nothing that I have to hide. So I want a swift conclusion to this whole thing as soon as possible," Spicer told Fox News.
Spicer, who was the first White House press secretary under the Trump administration, also expressed his reservations about the probe initiated by the Democrat-controlled House Judiciary Committee.
"Going back through the president's personal finances and history, you know, who knows how far, seems a bit of an expedition as opposed to enacting agenda that they put the American people to be elected to govern on," he said.
Spicer was one of 81 individuals and entities that have been requested by the House panel to share information and documents on the Trump administration Monday.
Others that were reached by the committee include President Donald Trump's sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, and son-in-law Jared Kushner.
The House Judiciary Committee is looking into matters regarding former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, former Federal Bureau of Investigation Director James Comey, and the Trump tower meeting between the Trump campaign and a Russian lawyer prior to the 2016 elections.
The White House blasted the Democrat effort late Monday, calling the investigation disgraceful and abusive.
