British stocks up 0.69 pct Tuesday

LONDON, March 5 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.69 percent, or 49.04 points, to close at 7,183.43 points.

GVC Holdings, a multinational sports betting and gaming group, soared 7.07 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. NMC Health and Fresnillo increased by 2.87 percent and 2.20 percent, respectively.

Intertek Group, a multinational assurance, inspection, product testing and certification company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 3.70 percent.

Royal Bank of Scotland Group, a banking and financial services company, dropped 2.40 percent. ITV, a British media company, fell 2.36 percent. Enditem
