International junior speed merchants to showcase talent at 7's rugby festival
WINDHOEK, march 5 (Xinhua) -- Namibia will host two days of fast-paced 7's Rugby in a tournament slated from march 8 to 9 in the capital city Windhoek.
The Capricorn Group-sponsored International Junior Sevens Rugby Tournament will take place at Windhoek Gymnasium Private School and will feature Under 18 teams from Namibia, Germany, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Zambia.
The teams will play against one another in pool stages and the ranking after all matches will determine the Cup, Plate and Bowl final opponents.
Tournament director Wessel Kotze told Xinhua on Tuesday that in terms of preparations Namibia is ready to host a world class tournament.
According to Kotze, the game to look out for is the Namibia versus South Africa game on Friday.
"We have often been the underdogs over the years, but since we are hosting the tournament again on home ground, it is now our time to rise and step up our game against our neighbors South Africa," he added.
The tournament will also feature U15 and U19 games from Namibian Schools who will also showcase exhilarating junior sevens rugby talent.
The inaugural Capricorn Group International Junior Sevens Rugby Tournament took place in 2017 and was won by South Africa after beating Namibia 45-0.
