Qingdao beats Shandong to end five-game CBA winning streak
JINAN, March 5 (Xinhua) -- Despite a combined 65 points from its star players, Shandong failed to withstand the challenge from Qingdao in the closing minutes, losing 129-125 in the 43rd round of the 2018-2019 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Tuesday.
Ty Lawson had 33 points and 12 assists while Donatas Motiejunas scored 32 points and 17 rebounds for Shandong who put an end to its five-game winning streak.
Prior to the game, Qingdao had no chances of reaching the playoffs, and it was a matter of revenge for Qingdao who lost its away game earlier in the season.
After Shandong took the lead for most of the game, Qingdao had an incredible 14-0 run in last quarter to lead for the first time. Dakari Johnson picked up his sixth foul, Zhang Chengyu stood out for Qingdao to score the final basket for the victory.
Liaoning lost to Jilin 120-113 due to Han Dejun's injury absence. Jimmer Fredette scored 30 points and 11 rebounds to help Shanghai snap a 3-game losing streak with a 114-105 victory over Guangzhou.
Elsewhere on Tuesday, Xinjiang crushed Shanxi 134-125 and Shenzhen outplayed Zhejiang 124-111.
